WEEK 2 (10/10/2022 - 14/10/2022)

As week 2 are going on, I've decided on Sir Saharuddin bin Othman as my supervisor after seeking for one. We talk about the project that would be appropriate to work based on the list of my titles.

 I continued to improve my title list by conducting research and reading. Ten different titles are included in my list as a whole. However, the titles I've chosen to discuss with my supervisor the most are: Smart Alternate Solar Panel, Contactless IoT Doorbell & Security System, Farming Monitoring With IoT, Biometric ATM Machine With Smart Security System.

I have my first workshop regarding the proposal of FYP. The workshop is about the briefing on how the flow of FYP 1 for Semester 2, Sept 2022 will be, A FYP timetable is given and students are required to follow the guideline. Additionally, a reminder that the closing date for title registration is October 21, 2022

Conclusion:

My supervisor has given me a lot of encouraging feedback on the list of topics I've found, and after giving it some thought and doing some reading, I've decided to work on a project about "Biometric ATM Machine With Smart Security System."

This week, I encountered an issue with the LCD display in my project. Upon initial testing, as shown in Figure 1, the LCD was unable to display any content. After conducting a thorough troubleshooting process, I discovered that the problem stemmed from the weak internet connection between the ESP32 and the cloud. To resolve this, I decided to switch to a different Wi-Fi connection with a stronger signal. The positive outcome of this adjustment can be seen in Figure 2, where the LCD successfully displays the desired information. Figure 1 Figure 2

After programming and testing the website, it was time to make the casing for the project. I bought a case from Mr DIY, a popular hardware store.  I sized the case to fit the LCD panel, keypad, fingerprint scanner, and servo motor. I had to be accurate so each component fit with the casing. I wanted people to easily access all functions. I slowly cut the case with following the measurement of my components. The detail was essential throughout. I needed to ensure the LCD are clear to seeing, the keypad had enough area for comfortable use, the fingerprint scanner was conveniently positioned for authentication, and the servo motor had enough room to function without obstructions.  I wanted the hardware and software to work together.
