WEEK 3 (17/10/2022 - 21/10/2022)

  During this week, I've gathered all information regarding the "Biometric ATM Machine With Smart Security System" since my project would be based on that concept. My supervisor Sir Saharuddin helped me a lot with the problem statement of my project. I've learned a lot during the research. He stated that our FYP's title must reflect our project. In addition, before we decided on the title, we must draft starting from the objective, problem statement, costing, and the layout of how we want the project to be. 

        After doing all the research and reading, my final title for my FYP is "Development of Biometric ATM Machine With Smart Security System". By following my supervisor's advice, this project is to provide better security by applying fingerprints on ATMs. Every human being has a different and unique biometric it is impossible to have a same fingerprint as another person. The usage of fingerprint are widely accepted these days to verify identification. It is uncomplicated and takes very little time to get data of a person unlikely with the application of physical keys and smart cards are frequently lost, stolen, duplicated, or destroyed. At the same time, passwords are frequently forgotten, shared, hacked, or accidentally read by a third party. A biometric system has two primary roles, which are identification and verification.

Next Planning: 

- The draft of objectives, problem statement and other issues related to the proposal of the project.

This week, I encountered an issue with the LCD display in my project. Upon initial testing, as shown in Figure 1, the LCD was unable to display any content. After conducting a thorough troubleshooting process, I discovered that the problem stemmed from the weak internet connection between the ESP32 and the cloud. To resolve this, I decided to switch to a different Wi-Fi connection with a stronger signal. After programming and testing the website, it was time to make the casing for the project. I bought a case from Mr DIY, a popular hardware store.  I sized the case to fit the LCD panel, keypad, fingerprint scanner, and servo motor. I had to be accurate so each component fit with the casing. I wanted people to easily access all functions. I slowly cut the case with following the measurement of my components. The detail was essential throughout. I needed to ensure the LCD are clear to seeing, the keypad had enough area for comfortable use, the fingerprint scanner was conveniently positioned for authentication, and the servo motor had enough room to function without obstructions.  I wanted the hardware and software to work together.
