WEEK 4 (24/10/2022 - 28/10/2022)

During week 4, I've drafting the problem statement and objective for the project. Some of the objective have been changed due to the comment and feedback I've gained from supervisor

OBJECTIVES

1) To provide better security via using fingerprints on ATMM machines.

2) To develop a Smart Security System that acts as a bank's panic button.

3) To propose a solution regarding the problems of ATM cards being stolen, lost, and error of key-in wrong Personal Identification Number (PIN).

PROBLEM STATEMENT

1) Reduce the number of constraints since user can use fingerprints for withdraw money. For example, user are not required to carry ATM card in their wallets and do not fear of losing it.

2) Cases of being rob at ATM are increasing and the victim is helpless and must comply with the criminal's demands.

3) ATM card always being stolen, lost and error of key-in wrong Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Conclusion: After gaining this objective and problem statement, I wanted to do the flowchart of the system so that it would be easier to understand what we were going to do with the project. Hence, for next week I'm planning to draft the flowchart of the system.

This week, I encountered an issue with the LCD display in my project. Upon initial testing, as shown in Figure 1, the LCD was unable to display any content. After conducting a thorough troubleshooting process, I discovered that the problem stemmed from the weak internet connection between the ESP32 and the cloud. To resolve this, I decided to switch to a different Wi-Fi connection with a stronger signal. After programming and testing the website, it was time to make the casing for the project. I bought a case from Mr DIY, a popular hardware store.  I sized the case to fit the LCD panel, keypad, fingerprint scanner, and servo motor. I had to be accurate so each component fit with the casing. I wanted people to easily access all functions. I slowly cut the case with following the measurement of my components. The detail was essential throughout. I needed to ensure the LCD are clear to seeing, the keypad had enough area for comfortable use, the fingerprint scanner was conveniently positioned for authentication, and the servo motor had enough room to function without obstructions.  I wanted the hardware and software to work together.
